Rock, Roll & Race with Keith Diamond and the Rockets!

Keith Diamond and the Rockets are dedicated to donating their band’s musical skills to support the fund raising efforts of charitable and other worthwhile causes.  They started out over 10 years ago as a 1950’s and early 1960’s Rock ‘n Roll show band, drawing their audiences back in time to the birthplace of Rock ‘n Roll.  An era which popularized “Hot Rods”, “Drive In Theatres”, “Cruisin’ the Strip”, “Beach Parties”, and “Car Service at the Hamburger Stand”.

They are very excited to bring their brand of Rock ‘n Roll to the 2012 Vancouver Motorcycle Show on Friday and Saturday nights, and make a donation to the charities represented at the show.

Special guest Clayton Bellamy (of the Roadhammers) will front Keith Diamond and the Rockets on Friday and Saturday night, and also do some acoustic sets in the Triumph booth during the show; schedules to be announced shortly.

Clayton Bellamy - BIO

Born and raised in Northen Alberta, Clayton Bellamy brings farm boy style to his music.  When he wasn’t racing motocross, he was hurtling across the prairie in a pickup searching for trouble and some sort of truth in the honky tonks of western towns.
Inspired by the likes of Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen and Steve Earle, Bellamy’s songs evoke the imagery of hard working people with big dreams, and endless highways to broken hearts.  He found fame as a member of one of Canada’s biggest bands, “The Road Hammers”, but the time has come to stake his claim as the next great blue collar songsmith.  A four time Canadian Country Music Award winner, SOCAN Songwriter of the Year, and Juno award winner, this high energy singer-songwriter is not to be overlooked.  His music provokes and inspires, always stirring emotion, which is just what Clayton feels music should do.  “I want my songs to lift you up, and give you something to believe in.  For me it’s all about the story… I want to hear Free Falling or Born In The USA… that’s saying something , and it resonates with people.  That’s what makes good music, that’s what I want to be a part of.”

Motorcycle Touring Seminars
Come to hear about amazing tours you can take, locally and across the planet. Learn what is required for touring in exotic locations and meet people that lead these tours during our World Travels Seminars.

Adrienne Denham
Meet Adrienne Denham - hear about her solo tour of South America!
Adrienne Denham just recently completed a 33,000km, solo and unsupported, motorcycle adventure through South America, on her Suzuki DR 650 (named Dirk). The trip took seven months and Adrienne traveled off-road through rivers, jungles, along the world's most dangerous road and experienced bike-stopping mechanical difficulties in the world's largest salt flat (where she had to push her bike to safety!).

About 600 people followed her trip on Facebook, including the Greater Vancouver Motorcycle Ryders Club. Since returning home she has been featured as a speaker at the Greater Vancouver Motorcycle Club and Horizon's Unlimited Western Canada meeting, and her story will be included in an upcoming Road Heros video.

Adrienne brings to the stage humour, humility, and a real sense of adventure; she enjoys sharing her story because she feels it was amazing in every way - and sharing it helps her hold on to the excitement. It's a story of hardcore motorcycle riding, finding out what it's like to ride alone, being strong, and of wonderful roads in South America.

Adrienne will be presenting her story in our Travel Seminars and also the She Rides Nite Seminars.

Rene Cormier
Meet Rene Cormier- Canada's King of long distance riding!
Join the ultimate riding adventure as Canadian BMW Rider Rene Cormier shares how he politely removes himself from the working world and cashes in what few possessions he has to finance a $25 a day, three-year-long motorcycle trek around the world. Never one to let excessive planning get in the way of a good ride, Rene runs out of cash half way through the tour and ultimately takes almost five years to cover his 41-country, 154,000-kilometre (95,000 mile) odyssey through North, Central and South America, Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, Russia and Mongolia before heading home. The best pictures and stories from the trip made their way into "The University of Gravel Roads: Global Lessons from a Four-Year Motorcycle Adventure", a full colour, illustrated travelogue that won the Bronze Medal in the Travel Essay category of the 2010 Independent Publisher Book Awards. Join Rene as he explains how he pulls off the ride of a lifetime, doing it the old-fashioned way; no sponsors, no support vehicles, no riding partner and no idea about the experiences, adventures, or mishaps, he’s going to run into along the way. Rene will also be available in his booth # 415 opposite KTM.
John Gilbank
Riders of the Sierra Madre
Meet John Gilbank and discover riding in Mexico!
Dreaming of a two-wheeled Mexican riding adventure? Then meet John Gilbank, one of those guys who is always on the lookout for an adventure into the unknown. Before he "retired" to Mexico to launch his motorcycle touring business, he was Chairman & CEO of a company traded on major Canadian and US stock exchanges.
What really got him interested in travel and international living was an early stint in the Canadian Foreign Service. As Consul and Trade Commissioner to the Western US, John was cross-posted to South America when he visited Mexico to learn a little Spanish. That was 30 years ago and as John now confesses; his Spanish lessons soon took second priority to a young nurse from Toronto. They have been together ever since. When the kids were raised and out of the nest (both of them are excellent motorcyclists), John and his wife Lynn returned to Mexico to live their dream. "Lynn has always been better at Spanish than me and she just loves to live in Mexico," he says. "It's really handy to have her there to help out as we tour all over the country, often far off the beaten path of the established tourist destinations." Check out John’s session to discover why Mexico offers some of the most beautiful riding in the world. John will also be available in the Riders of the Sierra Madre booth #622 opposite BMW.
